How to change default permalinks safely

Today i did a major update to our site by changing all the permalinks safely so i want to share my experience with you all.

By default our site have permalinks like below
default:http://s2sgateway.com/?p=123 even though it doesn’t give you any problem by indexing in google.There is no meaning in the url.so we want to give meaning to the url by adding our category and postname to the permalinks so that it is more seo friendly.
Now you have already created your site and made several hundred posts in it then it is hard to change permalinks for that there are many plugins available one of it is permalinks migration plugin by deanleejust download or install directly and activate the plugin.
Go to wp-admin->settings->Permalinks Migration->type “/%post_id%/” without quotes click update
Go to wp-admin->settings->permalinks->chose custom structure->type “/%category%/%postname%/” without quotes click save
if you want only post name then remove category from the value just give /%postname%/ now everything done all pages are now working fine old permalinks are automatically 301 redirect(permanent) from google to new permalinks.
If there is any 404 error then check the permalinks for errors.

Today we are going to know How to backup your website wordpress database and its tables.
